Klein DeNatale Goldner lawyers Catherine E. Bennett and Thomas V. DeNatale Jr. collaborated with another local practitioner, Stacy H. Bowman, to assist a woman who had been deprived of the proceeds of her late husband's life insurance policy. The team successfully argued to the appellate court that the client had an interest in the policy, even though the policy had been purchased during the husband's first marriage. The decision, published as In re Marriage of Burwell (2013) 221 Cal.App.4th 1, returned the case to the superior court and provided a method the court must use in dividing the proceeds between the client and the first wife.
