Klein DeNatale Goldner attorney Scott Kimsey spoke to writers about intellectual property law on Saturday, July 20th

The presentation focused specifically on the basics of copyright and trademark law, the legal rights of authors when pursuing publication of their work, and issues relating to the use of works created by others. Kimsey addressed questions about negotiating a publishing contract, a writer's level of control over their projects, how authors protect themselves and preserve their ability to sue for damages, and more.

The lecture was presented by the Writers of Kern, a nonprofit organization that provides educational resources and professional opportunities for authors in Kern County. It is a branch of the California Writers Club. For information about future events that are sponsored by the Writers of Kern, visit https://writersofkern.com/events/.

Scott Kimsey, a member of Writers of Kern himself, has been a part of the organization since 2015. He is a registered patent attorney with over 19 years of experience counseling clients from small inventors to Fortune 500 companies and academic institutions on intellectual property law matters.
